Macroscopic Description - Rachel Funk
45% of rock is covered with a black, fractured fusion crust. The exposed surface is black/gray with black chondrules (up to 1 mm in size) and minor evaporites. The interior is a dark gray matrix with dark gray and black chondrules.
Thin Section Description - Cari Corrigan, Tim McCoy
The sections consist of large (up to 1.5 mm), well-defined chondrules in a matrix of finer-grained silicates, sulfides, and abundant magnetite grains. The meteorites are minimally weathered, but extensively shock blackened. Silicates are homogeneous. Olivine is Fa30-31 and pyroxene is Fs11-25Wo1-39. The meteorites are CK5 chondrites and are likely paired with each other, and with the larger pairing group EET 87507 (Righter et al. 2015 METSOC abstract). |
