Macroscopic Description - Kathleen McBride
75% of this carbonaceous chondrite's exterior is covered with dull purple black fusion crust. The interior is composed of black matrix with evaporites and < 1 mm light gray clasts.
Thin Section Description (,2) - Gretchen Benedix, Linda Welzenbach, Tim McCoy
The section consist of a few small chondrules (up to 1 mm), mineral grains, and CAIs set in a black matrix; rare metal and sulfide grains are present. Olivine compositions are Fa0-37, with a prominent peak at Fa0-2. The matrix consists dominantly of Fe-rich serpentine. The meteorite is a CM2 chondrite. |
