Macroscopic Description - Roger Harrington
20% of the exterior is covered by dull black fusion crust. The interior is a fine-grained black matrix with trace amounts of <1mm chondrules.
Thin Section Description (,2) - Cari Corrigan, Linda Welzenbach
The section consists of a few small chondrules (up to 0.5 mm), mineral grains and CAIs set in a black matrix; rare metal and sulfide grains are present. Olivine compositions are Fa1-39, orthopyroxene is Fs1. Aqueous alteration of the matrix is substantial, but the chondrules are only modestly altered. This meteorite is a CM2 chondrite, probably part of the MIL 07497 pairing group. |
