The exterior has 98% black fusion crust with iridescent sheen and oxidation halos that are dark red in color. There are a few areas of vesicular texture on the black fusion crust. There are small fractures and white evaporites present on the exterior. The interior has a fine-grained, dark grey matrix that is oxidized to a red/brown color. There are small white inclusions, less than 0.1 mm in size visible on the exposed interior. |
The section measures ~1 cm x 1.5 cm. The margins of the section are shock blackened H5 chondritic material (Fa19Fs16), while the center is a microcrystalline melt vein containing iron nickel/iron sulfur quenched melt blebs and abundant unmelted mineral fragments typical of a chondritic melt vein. |
