There is 98% black fusion crust with dark red oxidation present. There is a small area of exposed matrix that appears to be tan/light grey in color. The exterior also has small white evaporites. | |
Thin Section Description - | |
The section is composed of chondrules that range up to 2 mm in size with a variety of textures set in a fine-grained dark matrix of silicates, metal and troilite. Polysynthetically twinned pyroxene is common. Weathering is moderate with staining and patches of iron oxides. Olivines range from Fa22-32 and pyroxenes from Fs12-28Wo0-2. The meteorite is an L3 type chondrite, estimated subtype ~3.5. |
