Macroscopic Description - Leslie Young
The exterior has 95% black fusion crust with large oxidation halos and shallow pitting. The visible matrix is light grey in color and has oxidation throughout. The interior matrix is fine grained with red/brown inclusions approximately 3-4 mm in size. There are white flecks present on cut surface.
Thin Section Description (,2) - Cari Corrigan, Tim McCoy
The section exhibits numerous well-defined chondrules, up to 1.5 mm, in a black matrix of fine-grained silicates, metal and troilite. Weak shock effects are present. Polysynthetically twinned pyroxene is common. The meteorite is moderately weathered. Olivines are unequilibrated and range in composition from Fa2-26 and pyroxene from Fs22Wo1. The meteorite is an L3 chondrite, estimated subtype 3.6. |
