Macroscopic Description - Kellye Pando
Black rough fusion crust with mosaic fracturing covers 55% of the exterior. There is pitting and some radial flow lines present. Areas without fusion crust show dark brown matrix with large round inclusions up to 7 mm that range in color from dark grey/brown to light grey/white. Interior is the same dark brown matrix with large round inclusions and orange rust throughout.
Thin Section Description (,,2) - Cari Corrigan, Tim McCoy
The section is composed of chondrules that range up to 2 mm in size with a variety of textures, some of which contain mesostasis glass in a fine-grained dark matrix of silicates, metal and troilite. Polysynthetically twinned pyroxene is common. Weathering is moderate with staining and patches of iron oxides. Olivines range from Fa1-42 and pyroxenes from Fs1-18Wo0.2-1. The meteorite is a type L3 chondrite, estimated subtype ~3.5. |
