70% of the exterior of this rock is covered with fusion crust that is very dark brown, rough, and has mosaic fracturing, pitting, and iridescent weathering spots. There are a few patches of white present that are likely evaporites. The areas without fusion crust show grey matrix that is very heavily weathered to a dark orange/brown color. There are black and light grey/white inclusions that are less than 0.5 mm visible. The interior is a grey matrix with dark grey, black, and light grey/tan inclusions that measure as much as 2 mm. Orange rust spots and metal can be seen throughout. There are larger areas of orange/brown rust that are concentrated near exterior edges. |
