The section consists dominantly of metal, with subequant kamacite grains ranging from 200 µm to 3 mm in maximum dimension. In two places, lamellar kamacite with a bandwidth of ~200 µm is bounded by a coarse plessitic texture. Included within the metal are individual silicate grains of ~100 µm in dimension and polyminerallic clusters up to 1 mm. The silicates include olivine (Fa18-20), pyroxene (Fs16-19) and plagioclase. A barred texture suggestive of relict chondrules was found in one area. Also found in the metal, although not observed in association with the silicates, are phosphates, including both whitlockite and chlorapatite. The largest of these is a vein-like structure on the edge of the specimen and protruding inward ~3 mm. The meteorite may be related to the IIE irons. |
