Macroscopic Description - Rachel Funk
Black fusion crust covers 80% of the exterior surface. The interior is a black matrix with orange rust, metal visible and beige inclusions.
Thin Section Description (,2) - Cari Corrigan, Tim McCoy
The section consists of abundant small (up to 1 mm) chondrules, chondrule fragments and mineral grains in a dark matrix. Metal and sulfide occur within and rimming the chondrules. Olivine ranges in composition from Fa1-28, with a continuous range of intermediate compositions and a slight peak at Fa1-3 with one analysis of Fa28. Pyroxene analyses are Fs1-2. The matrix appears to consist largely of Fe-rich olivine. Terrestrial weathering effects are extensive. The meteorite is a CO3 chondrite. |
