Macroscopic Description - Roger Harrington
This meteorite has dull black fusion crust over 40% of the exterior, with a trace of pale blue evaporites, probably sulfates. The interior is a dark gray fine grained matrix with <1mm light gray CAI’s throughout.
Thin Section Description (,2) - Cari Corrigan, Linda Welzenbach
The section exhibits large chondrules (up to 3 mm) and CAIs in a dark matrix. Olivines range from Fa1-40 and low-Ca pyroxene is Fs1. The meteorite is an unequilibrated carbonaceous chondrite, probably a reduced CV3.
Reclassification Notes (AMN 46,1)
Reclassification and pairing based on Raman spectroscopy (petrologic type 3.7), and on Ni content of metal and sulfide and magnetic susceptibility (Oxidized A). Details are reported in Righter et al. (2022); doi: 10.1111/maps.13932. |
