Sample Summary - Y793605

Relatively little has been published about Yamato 793605 which is currently being studied by a consortium organized by Kojima, Miyamoto, Warren and Yanai. Its mode, mineral compositions, and texture are very similar to those of ALHA77005 and LEW88516. It has olivine and chromite poikilitically enclosed by orthopyroxene and interstitial plagioclase glass. It also has a large area of shock melt. The results of the consortium studies are expected to be presented in June 1997 at the NIPR Symposium on Antarctic Meteorites.
